John Stockwell was born in Boston, MA in 1958 and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in 1980. Inspired by the fields, flowers, and skies of southern Sweden and southern France, John Stockwell’s paintings are heavily textured in an impasto style and his landscapes are filled with warm light, limitless color, and infinite depth.
He has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden; his paintings are included in numerous public and private collections including the Swedish Art Council, Stockholm, Sweden; the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis, MA; the Art Museum of Ontario, Toronto, Canada; the Gillette Corporation; Fidelity Investments; IBM and Price Waterhouse.
John Stockwell lives in Sweden with his wife and two children.
