Painter Hall Groat II serves as a Professor of Art and Design at the State University of New York at Broome Community College, where he teaches introductory courses including computer graphics, drawing, painting, and art history. He earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting and Drawing from the City University of New York at Brooklyn, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History with a minor in Studio Art from Binghamton University.
Groat has participated in graduate and certificate programs at institutions, including Buffalo State College, Syracuse University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Additionally, he attended summer art programs at the Chautauqua School of Art in Chautauqua, New York, and the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont
Groat has established a significant presence in the art world, showcasing his work through numerous solo exhibitions at venues such as the Everson Museum of Art, the Roberson Museum and Science Center, Finger Lakes Community College, Cazenovia College, the Jasper Rand Art Museum, LeMoyne College, the Wadsworth Athenaeum, and Washington and Jefferson College. In addition to these one-person exhibitions, Groat has actively participated in various group shows across the United States.
In 2004, Groat was featured in the Roberson Museum Center’s exhibition titled “Cosmos and Chaos: A Cultural Paradox,” alongside renowned contemporary artists such as Lucian Freud, Eric Fischl, Marc Dennis and Jerome Witkin. His artistic contributions have garnered significant recognition, resulting in his work being included in esteemed private and public collections across the globe. Notable institutions and corporations housing his art include AT&T, Binghamton University, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cleveland Clinic, and the Everson Museum of Art. Additionally, his works are part of collections belonging to prominent figures and organizations, including actor Michael Douglas, IHeart Media, House and Garden, LTD., Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, the Munson-Williams Proctor Institute of Art, R and R Partners, the State University of New York system, the Roberson Museum and Science Center, and Washington Jefferson College.
