Natale Addamiano

Natale Addamiano was born in Bitetto (Bari), Italy on May 12, 1943.
In 1968 he moved to Milan and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera where he graduated in 1972. In 1971 he held an exhibition at the Gallery Solferino, in Milan, with a catalog presentation by Giorgio Seveso, where he exhibited thirty paintings in the series entitled “Diaries Nocturnes” which had taken him nearly a decade to complete.

Since 1976 he has held the chair of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, and developed a relationship with the printer Spiral (Milan), with whom he made several series of lithographs, engravings and etchings. In 1983 he exhibited in Palazzo Sormani in Milan, where he met Kayoko Shimada, who helped him set up solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Niigata, Japan.  In 1993, his retrospective was hosted in Milan at the Palazzo della Ragione, and in 1994 he participated in the exhibition “Brera”, curated by Daniela Palazzoli at the Gallery of Modern Art, Gallarate.

Since 2001 Addamiano has had additional retrospective exhibitions held in Krakow, the Italian Institute of Culture (2004) and the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum, (2005).  In 2010 Addamiano introduced the new “Starry Skies” paintings in Milan. In 2016, a comprehensive monograph dedicated to this series was published by Dep Art, with text by Flaminio Gualdoni.
