Inspired by the works of Edward Hopper, Nick Savides is a painter that captures the quiet intensity of both nature and humanity. Nick studied under Paul Georges at Brandeis University and soon after began his professional career as an award-winning realist painter. Since his first solo show in 1980, he has exhibited across the United States as well as in Canada. He is best known for his scenes of New York City and his coastal landscapes.
Nick’s work is in numerous public and private collections and was featured on June Middleton’s television show “Minding Your Business” that aired on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network in 2010. Nick is known for combining drama with romance in his art. The effect of light is a key ingredient in his imagery. He not only paints a scene in amazing detail, but also uses the picture for storytelling; his paintings transport the viewer to places that simultaneously capture the real and the imagined.
