db Waterman is a contemporary Dutch artist known for her expressive mixed media paintings that combine figurative elements with abstract landscapes or urban textures. From her studio in Eindhoven, in the south of the Netherlands, Waterman creates atmospheric landscapes in which solitary figures, often children, appear within layered surfaces of paint, collage and weathered materials.
Her work explores themes such as memory, freedom, survival and resilience. The figures find themselves in environments that feel both natural and constructed: fragments of landscapes merge with rough textures reminiscent of weathered walls, traces of text and painterly abstraction. This tension between vulnerability and strength is a recurring theme in her work.
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Den Bosch, Netherlands, Waterman has largely developed as an artist independently and has gained international recognition through galleries, exhibitions and private collections around the world.
