Sono Fine Art is excited to kick off our fall show schedule with an outstanding exhibition of romantic realism masterfully created by New York artist Nick Savides. In the classic narrative tradition, Nick’s paintings reveal personal stories to the observant viewer and love is often the underlying theme.
My favorite painting in the show is Central Park-Bethesda Terrace in Autumn. Nick’s setting is a celebrated New York landmark, the perfect NYC metaphor featuring the small oasis of trees and pond overshadowed (maybe protected) by massive buildings. And so many people enjoying themselves – I could easily see myself among them. Incredible details to take in (Can you find the horse and buggy at the top of the stairs?) Then you spy a couple seated in an unceremonious brown rowboat captured in a tender kiss and the painting takes on new meaning.
I confess I’m a classic romantic – I love a happy ending. Nick’s paintings put us in familiar places and renew our favorite memories. Nick restores my faith in contemporary realism. I encourage you to stop by and enjoy the show that I like to think of as “Art for Lovers.”
